Isabel and I will be leaving for New York City! Back in January, Isabel auditioned for the Rockette Summer Intensive and was selected to attend week 2. Just what is the Rockette Summer Intensive?

Entering its ninth season, the Rockette Summer Intensive has thus far produced 41 Rockettes. One of the best tools of preparation for Rockette hopefuls, the Summer Intensive offers a complete and comprehensive summer training program led by actual Radio City Rockettes and a Rockette Director/Choreographer. The opportunity for dancers to connect with the professional dance world and study the world famous Rockette precision dance technique is an invaluable tool for the serious dancer.
The program includes:
• One week of intensive study at Radio City Music Hall with the Radio City Rockettes and a Rockette Director /Choreographer
• Six hours of class daily with emphasis on Rockette jazz, tap, formations and kick line
• Final performance on the Great Stage at Radio City Music Hall
Needless to say, this is something Isabel has worked long and hard for. Although she’ll be busy from 9 am to 5 or 6 pm each day, I do plan to get her to the major NYC attractions, not to mention some shows. We’ve already got tickets to American Ballet Theatre and Savion Glover. I’ll hit the TKTS booth in Times Square for tickets to Chicago, and if the price is right, I may even get to a matinee of Lend me a Tenor, or South Pacific.
