Here's what we're watching, but just because it's here, doesn't always mean it was good!

Prayer for the beatification and canonization of John Paul II

God our Father, you reward all who believe in you. May your servant, John Paul our Pope, vicar of Peter and Shepherd of your Church, who faithfully administered the mysteries of your forgiveness and love on earth, rejoice with you for ever in heaven. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen!

Christmas past comes to life

claraChristmas Traditions, in historic St. Charles, Missouri, is one of the largest outdoor Christmas festivals in the United States. In December, the streets of old St. Charles come alive with storybook characters, Victorian Carolers, and Santas from around the world. There’s even a Santa Lucia.

This is Isabel’s second year playing Clara from the Nutcracker. Back in 2004 and 2005, Ria played the Flower Girl. For the past four years, Ria has been the festival’s Assistant Director.

Founded in 1769, the colonial town of St. Charles is about 30 minutes west of downtown St. Louis. South Main Street, home of Christmas Traditions, is known for its antique shops, restaurants, cafés, and beautifully preserved historic buildings. The Shrine of St. Rose Philippine Duchesne is right down the street.

The festival opens Friday, November 27 and runs till December 26. New this year is a holiday skating rink in Frontier Park along the banks of the Missouri River.

Each member of the Christmas Traditions cast has their very own character card which features their picture and a bit of their story. These collectable cards are handed out during the festival. Here is the 2009 Clara card. Hope to see you there!
