At around 8 pm Good Friday a tornado ripped through our neighborhood. We are all fine and the house has only minor damage. Power was been off for 3+ days. We did lose an incredible amount of trees. I posted this dogwood pic on Friday. Compare the skyline to the one I took Saturday morning. The dogwood still stands!
GOOD FRIDAY
When tornadoes come whirling your way,
You get down on your knees and you pray:
You’re just glad you’re not dead,
Have a roof overhead —
Nothing else seems to matter that day.

I was praying for you when I heard about these storms! I’m so glad everyone is okay and not more damage than trees! But those pictures really tell a story!
How did you manage without power through Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday?

We spent Holy Saturday clearing away debris and cutting up enormous trees. I had given up on an Easter dinner and was happy to have bought a ham, which we were already starting to nibble on. The neighbors plugged us in to their generator. So the fridge was on and we could keep cell phones charged. Isabel’s boyfriend’s family owns a catering business. They had already gone to the vigil so they took all my Easter food into the city and cooked it for us Easter morning. They loaded it in a big hotbox and delivered a beautiful steaming hot dinner. I really wish I would have thought to take a pic, but it was so hectic and we were just glad to be all together. We are just a few houses away from total destruction. A Good Friday we will never forget. Thanks for the prayers!
