This recipe is from The Silver Palate Cookbook by Julee Rosso and Sheila Lukins. Took us a long time to find this macaroon recipe and it has become our family favorite. Ida made these today (thanks Id!) and added some Christmas flair.

Coconut Macaroons
- 1/3 c unbleached flour
- 2 1/2 c shredded coconut
- 1/8 ts salt
- 2/3 c sweetened condensed milk
- 1 ts vanilla
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix flour, coconut and salt. Add sweetened condensed milk and vanilla. Stir well to make a thick batter.
Drop by tablespoonfuls onto well-greased cookie sheets, allowing an inch between cookies. Bake for about 20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pan at once; and cool on racks. Makes about 2 dozen depending on the size of your cookie.
