There is defintiely something inspiring about fresh new notebooks and newly sharpened pencils. The possibilities are endless. But, what about a month from now when the notebooks aren’t looking quite the same and neither are our attitudes about what great things we might accomplish this year in our homeschool? Here are a few of my favorite reading selections for keeping on track spiritually, mentally, and emotionally.
Holiness for Housewives by Dom Hubert Van Zeller
With Van Zeller’s encouraging spiritual guidance, you will find meaning in monotony, prayer is chaos, and ultimately, the path to holiness through your daily household and homeschool routines.
A Do-It-at-Home Retreat by Andre Ravier, S.J.
The perfect answer for those unable to get away to make a normal retreat. Using the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola, Fr. Ravier guides you through an in-depth four-week retreat in which a full hour each day is devoted to meditation and/or contemplation.
A Mother’s Rule of Life by Holly Pierlot
This is a great resource for Catholic Moms. If you are looking for structure in your home, Holly explains how following a simple schedule can bring order to your home and peace to your soul.
What Our Mothers Didn’t Tell Usby Danielle Crittenden
Ever wonder why things are the way they are, why homemakers and mothers of large families are looked down on by society in general? This book will reinforce all the life choices you have made and offers incredible insight into the society in which we live.

Easter A.
Great selection, Evann!
When my children were younger and it was virtually impossible for me to leave home to attend retreats, I designed for myself a mini-retreat for Lent. I didn’t know someone was clever enough to put it in a book. God be praised! because mothers who have babies and toddlers surely need something like that.
Great post, Evann!
Love,
Easter:-)
