Planbook progress

I am down to three students this year: 4th, 7th, and 10th grade. We design our own curriculum and have for 16 of our 18 years of homeschooling. The 4th and 7th grade planbooks are pretty standard. It’s the 10th grade that requires some creativity.

For the 4th grader:

religion – Faith and Life 4 + numerous supplements
math – Saxon54
reading – Faith and Freedom readers + Seton’s Reading Comprehension for Young Catholics Gr 4
English – Voyages in English 4 + Exercises in Engish 4 workbook
handwriting – usually tied in to spelling
history – How America Began by Fr. Furlong
science – Missouri Conservation Frontiers, a small class I am teaching at our weekly co-op
art – something new and different every week
p.e. – ballet, tap, jazz, and acro — 4.5 hours each week

For the 7th grader:

religion – Faith and Life 7 + numerous supplements
math – Saxon76
reading – Catholic Heritage Curricula’s Reading Comprehension: Stories of the Saints Vol. II and III + other reading
English – Voyages in English 7 + Exercises in Engish 7 workbook
handwriting – working on cursive
history – All Ye Lands World Cultures and Geography
science – General Science by Jay Wile — this will be Crozet’s first real co-op class — he will also take my Missouri Conservation Frontiers class
art – something new and different every week
music – 2nd year of guitar
p.e. – sill undecided

For the 10th grader:

religion – Catholicism & Life by Jim Drummey + supplements
math – Saxon Algebra 2
language arts – Warriner’s English Grammar and Composition, complete course + Sadlier’s Vocabulary Workshop Level E
history/literature – MODG Ancient History/Literature
science – archeology is still in early planning stages but we will use The World Encyclopedia of Archeology, a Firefly Book, as our base. Supplements will include Encyclopedia of Ancient Egypt by Helen Strudwick, The Complete Pyramids by Thames and Hudson, Pyramids of Egypt by Alberto Siliotti, Signs and Mysteries by Mike Aquilina, Origins of the Alphabets by Joseph Naveh and loads more!
French 4 – Max’s only co-op class this year
art – “Scrap Gowns” a website sharing ideas on how to create lovely gowns and costumes from, you guessed it, fabric scraps. This will involve web design, photography, and sewing.
p.e. – ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, and modern — 12+ hours per week
