I received the following info today:

Alternative School Now Forming

Due to the recent announcement that Gateway Academy is closing the High School, a group of Gateway parents are meeting to form an alternative school. You are invited to a meeting on Tuesday, June 2, at 7:00 p.m. at Gateway Academy to learn about the University Model School (UMS) which we are proposing.

The University Model School will meet for regular classroom instruction 3 days a week with certified teachers. The other 2 days, the students are given homework to complete. The curriculum will be thoroughly Catholic. Teachers will instruct students, and collect and grade homework assignments. The school will maintain records for graduation. Parents do not need to teach any classes, but would be responsible for tuition (much lower than area schools), transportation, and making sure their child completes his assignments on the 2 days off.
