Patti Maguire Armstrong is the featured speaker at the St. Louis Catholic Homeschool Association\u2019s 2015 Catholic Homeschool Conference<\/strong><\/a> to be held Friday, March 27 & Saturday, March 28<\/strong> at the Cardinal Rigali Pastoral Center. The motives for deciding to homeschool are many. This annual conference is designed to introduce Catholic families to the endless possibilities of homeschooling.<\/p>\n

Patti Maguire Armstrong is a Catholic author, speaker and blogger<\/a>. She and her husband are\u00a0parents to 10 children, including two AIDS orphans from Kenya. The\u00a0Armstrongs\u00a0have 19 years of homeschooling experience. Patti has a B.A. in social work with a minor in Psychology and an M.A. in public administration. She worked in both fields\u00a0until staying home to raise her children. She is the author of 10 books and\u00a0has published over 1,000 newspaper, magazine and website articles. She was managing editor and co-author of Ascension Press\u2019s best\u00a0selling Amazing Grace<\/i> book series. Her latest titles are:\u00a0Big Hearted: Inspiring Stories from Everyday Families<\/i>, the children\u2019s book,\u00a0Dear God, I Don\u2019t Get It!<\/i>\u00a0and its sequel:\u00a0Dear God, You Can\u2019t Be Serious!<\/i> She is a regular contributor to National Catholic Register<\/i>, Integrated Catholic Life<\/i>™, CatholicMom.com<\/a>, and Catholic Lane, and has been a frequent guest on EWTN and Catholic radio\u00a0programs around the country. Patti\u2019s presentations will include \u201cWhy Homeschooling Works,\u201d \u201cTeaching Writing,\u201d and \u201cThe Reluctant Homeschooler.\u201d<\/p>\n

Friday evening events are geared toward high school students and their parents. Students can enjoy a pizza social followed by a \u201cHomeschool Grad Panel\u201d featuring six of our own homeschool graduates, who will discuss their homeschool experiences and subsequent careers. Parents are invited to a \u201cHappy Hour,\u201d where they can mix and mingle with other homeschooling parents. The vending hall is open on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m.<\/p>\n

Saturday begins with 8 a.m. Mass in the St. Vincent de Paul Chapel. Conference presentations will include: \u201cHow Can I Help My Challenged Reader?\u201d \u201cTeaching Reading with Phonics,\u201d \u201cIntroduction to Catholic Homeschooling,\u201d \u201cFrom Rough to Ready,\u201d \u201cCommon Core,\u201d \u201cGetting Creative Isn\u2019t as Hard as You Think,\u201d \u201cTransitioning from School to Homeschool,\u201d and \u201cHomeschooling Lots of Kids While Keeping It all Together.\u201d<\/p>\n

An expanded curriculum fair and vendors area offer a wide variety of Catholic homeschooling materials for your immediate inspection and purchase.<\/p>\n

The St. Louis Catholic Homeschool Association\u2019s Annual Conference is designed for homeschoolers at all levels. Prospective homeschoolers will leave with the knowledge they need to make an informed decision. New homeschoolers will find support and inspiration for their current homeschooling efforts. Even veteran homeschoolers will come away with valuable insights and new ideas.<\/p>\n

Registration for Friday only is $15 per person, and $5 per high school student. Full conference registration, for both Friday and Saturday, is $25 per person, $35 per married couple, and $10 per high school student. After March 22nd, or at the door, cost is $30 per person, or $45 per married couple. Pre-registration is advised.
