{"id":6831,"date":"2011-03-24T12:29:32","date_gmt":"2011-03-24T17:29:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thankevann.com\/homeschoolgoodies\/?p=6831"},"modified":"2020-09-12T17:14:37","modified_gmt":"2020-09-12T22:14:37","slug":"annunciation-a-day-to-celebrate-not-fast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/thankevann.com\/homeschoolgoodies\/?p=6831","title":{"rendered":"Annunciation: a day to celebrate, not fast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to a letter from the<a href=\"http:\/\/archstl.org\/worship\/page\/season-lent\"> Office of Sacred Worship<\/a> to Priests and Deacons of the Archdiocese of St. Louis:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/thankevann.com\/hsg\/blogart\/stl\/archstl-crest.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"75\" height=\"88\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>The Office of Worship would just like to remind you that Friday March 25th is the Feast of the Annunciation of the Lord.  This day is celebrated as a solemnity, and thus, in accordance with canon 1251 the penitential practice of abstinence is not to be observed on this particular day. <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Canon 1251 reads: Abstinence from meat, or from some other food as determined by the Episcopal Conference, is to be observed on all Fridays, unless a solemnity should fall on a Friday. Abstinence and fasting are to be observed on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>This is a day meant for celebration and not fasting.
