We work hard at planning a course for our student and when difficulty arises we tend to want to buckle down, forge ahead, and keep going. &#8220;We&#8217;re going to get through this book if it kills us.&#8221; This can be tough for the parent and frustrating for the student. It&#8217;s discouraging for all. Step back and take a look at the direction you are going. Sometimes a course of study that worked so well for one student in a family doesn&#8217;t work at all for another. <strong>Be flexible!<\/strong> Get out of that box. If the math book isn&#8217;t working, find another. Ask around for advice. That&#8217;s what your homeschool support group is for.
