The schoolroom has been cleaned and dejunked (is that a word?) The art shelves were my main accomplishment this summer, but a slight repositioning of one table in our schoolroom has really opened up some floor space. I don’t know about you, but we spend a lot of time on the floor. Another desk and two computers need to be moved, but I am still sorting that one out in my head. New books are on the kids’ shelves and planbooks are ready to roll.<\/p>\n
We get to ease into our new year this week with the start of dance company <\/a>rehearsals, Monday – Thursday, 4:30 – 8 p.m. for two weeks. On the 31st we jump right into school, regular dance classes<\/a>, and music class<\/a>. Say goodbye to Max, my 10th grader, because that translates into 15+ hours of dance for her each week. For Audrey, 4th grade, it means only 4.5 hours of dance per week. Crozet, 7th grade, gets off easy with his 1\/2 hour weekly guitar lesson.<\/p>\n On September 11 our homeschool co-op<\/a> begins. We have been attending this Friday co-op for ten years. It has been invaluable to us in the hgher maths, sciences, and forgeign languages . Each year, our schedule is different depending on the course offerings and our students’ particular needs. Max only has 2 classes at co-op this year: French 4, and Math Lab. Our co-op is geared toward 7th through 12th graders, so this year Crozet gets to take his first “real” co-op class: General Science. I will be leading a Missouri Conservation Frontiers<\/a> group for 4th-7th graders. Just 10 kids, and 2 of them are mine. I did this years ago with my oldest girls and we thoroughly enjoyed it.<\/p>\n I’m not quite ready to say goodbye to summer. The pool is still inviting, and I still have a few things I wanted to get done, but in two weeks it’s all over, so I plan to enjoy what’s left of my summer and I hope you’ll do the same!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Our new homeschool year officially begins on August 31.
