Here&#8217;s our recipe for a perfect julep:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Mint Julep<\/strong><br \/>\n2 ounces Kentucky bourbon<br \/>\n1 ounce simple syrup<br \/>\n4-5 fresh mint leaves<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Muddle mint leaves. Add all ingredients to a julep glass (tall &amp; chilled) with crushed ice. Mix with a bar spoon in an up and down motion. Garnish with a long mint sprig and enjoy!<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-8367 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/thankevann.com\/homeschoolgoodies\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/2015-Kentucky-Derby_5.jpg\" alt=\"2015 Kentucky Derby_5\" width=\"200\" height=\"220\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Kentucky Derby is the first of the Triple Crown races, which also include the Preakness ,and the Belmont Stakes. Since 1930 there have only been <a href=\"http:\/\/www.horse-races.net\/library\/tcrown-info.htm\">11 Triple Crown winners<\/a>. The last was Affirmed in 1978. As of Thurday, There are 21\u00a0Derby contenders.
