He was a sixth century Celtic monk, abbot, and bishop. <\/p>\n<p>For the Welsh, St. David&#8217;s Day means great festivities. The red dragon, Y&#8217;Draig Goch, is flown on the Welsh flag or worn as pins and pendants. It is also traditional to wear a daffodil, the national flower of Wales. Leeks also are worn and eaten. For the Welsh, this is a day to celebrate their heritage.
