Our Crown of Thorns

A lenten tradition in our home is the chocolate covered pretzel Crown of Thorns. We usually make one for our St. Joseph Altar and then save it for placement on top of our Easter cake. Simply melt some chocolate, throw in a handful of pretzel sticks, and mix. Remove the chocolate covered sticks one at a time before they start to harden and start building your crown on a piece of wax paper. You’ll end up with a solid and sturdy crown. Fill it with Easter eggs on Sunday and you’ll transform your crown into a bird’s nest. This project is fun for all ages.

This is the first I’ve ever seen such an idea! I LOVE it! I’ll have to remember this one for next year.

Glad you like it Mathilda! My kids, who usually give up sweets and chocolate, look at it as a kind of lenten torture to have the chocolate crown on display from St. Josph’s Day till Easter!
